Mr. Eco’s Decades Of Change

Mr. Eco’s Decades of Change is a long-form documentary highlighting 10 locations around the world and how they change over time. We are revisiting the same areas every 5-10 years to show how climate/social change has impacted the wildlife/people in these areas. We are telling the story of these areas through the stories of people working on conservation efforts locally.

Host: Brett “Mr. Eco” Edwards

Brett believes monumental change begins with youth and combined his passions for hip-hop and sustainability to environmental rap superhero Mr. Eco. Mr. Eco uses music to educate and empower students to be EcoHeroes who know their local actions impact animals and ecosystems globally. The “EcoHero Show” he created has been performed for more than 2,000 elementary schools in 6 countries reaching over 1 million students. Shows have been sponsored by more than 120 cities and counties. Find out more about him and see his music videos on his YouTube channel which has 3 million views and 20k subscribers.

Producer: Marthe Olsen

Marthe Olsen is a creative and free spirit who is on a mission to make sustainability easy and affordable for everyone. She is the creator of Spain’s’ first cloth diaper library. Through modern reusable diapers, she’s helping parents across Spain to reduce more than 1 tonne of waste per household. Juggling between the cloth diaper library, her own zero-waste shop, and two little ones at home, she is trying to create a more sustainable planet for her children to grow up in.

Originally from Norway, she was eager to see how other cultures across the planet were living from a very young age. After living a nomadic life for almost a decade, she was exposed to several cultures and indulged herself in remote villages in every corner of the world. This became the foundation for her eco-mindset and has inspired her to raise her voice for sustainability. She believes that by acting locally we can think globally, and indeed take better care of Mother Earth.

A Few Brief Examples Storylines Past Filming In Kenya

A Few Brief Examples Storylines Past Filming In Kenya

Richard Bonham Director of Big Life: Richard gave us full access to all operations of Big Life which he co-founded with Nick Brandt in 2010. He has been working on conservation efforts since the 80’s in the areas near and around the Amboseli ecosystem. We interviewed him at his house which is literally open to the wilderness of the bush of Africa, where he has had visitors in his living room such as Hyenas and leopards and elephants who drink water from his swimming pool.

Daniel Ole Sambu Predator Protection Program Coordinator for Big Life:

Daniel started and manages the Predator Protection Program which gives ranchers fair market compensation when their livestock are killed by predators. In the past, the natural reaction was retaliation to kill the predators that killed the livestock. This program has allowed lions to grow and co-exist in the region among many other predators.

Daniel Kutata:

Daniel is one of hundreds of local Maasai rangers who work to patrol and protect all of the land in Big Life’s territory. One major issue they deal with is elephant human conflict and briefly before meeting Daniel his cousin had been killed by an elephant, the same animal he works so hard every day to protect.
